RED TAILED BLACK COCKATOO

The red-tailed black Batane Cockatoo is a rare, expensive, and migratory animal that is widely distributed throughout Australia. The red-tailed black-crested cockatoo scientific name is Calyptorhynchus banksii. There are 5 subspecies, with different ranges in length from 50 cm to 68 cm, and weight is from about 600 to 900 grams.

It is named after a bright red feather on the tail of its male bird. There is a long black crown on the top of the head, starting from the forehead, covering most of the top of the head. The male bird has black feathers and a bright red tail. The female bird is slightly smaller, with dark brown feathers, and has many beautiful yellow or orange spots and stripes on the head.

BREEDING

The black red tailed cockatoo has different breeding periods according to the places. In southwest Australia, the breeding period is from May to September. while in some other regions the breeding period to black tail cockatoo is from December to February. the incubation period is about 28 days.

DISTRIBUTION AREA WISE

Red tailed black cockatoos are distributed throughout Australia, the eastern and northern parts of Queensland and its neighboring islands (including the Cape York Peninsula), and a small amount in the northern part of New South Wales The distribution, the northern and southern parts of the Northern Province, the northern part of South Australia and the northeastern and western parts of Western Australia.
